Cellulite Reduction Treatment
Royal Touch Medi Spa offers cellulite reduction treatments in Mississauga using radio frequency (RF) technology –one of the most effective ways of reducing the skin condition.
What is cellulite?
85% of women over the age of 20 (and a smaller percentage of men) have visible signs of cellulite. This condition can be detrimental to a person’s self-esteem and confidence, especially as we age.
Cellulite is a condition that occurs when fat deposits emerge out of fatty tissue into the connective tissue, which makes up the basic structures of our skin. This results in visible lines, dimples and wrinkles on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and arms.
Many people opt for cellulite reduction treatments in Mississauga to rectify their skin condition and restore their skin smoothness, firmness and elasticity.
What causes cellulite?
Cellulite develops when there’s less blood circulation and flow between the fatty tissue layer and connective tissue, also known as septae. When there’s less circulation, there’s less oxygen present in these areas resulting in low collagen production.
Collagen is the basis of what makes our skin thick, elastic, firm and supple. When there’s less collagen production, the skin is susceptible to thinning, another factor that contributes to cellulite development.
Additional factors that are linked to cellulite are widespread. They include lifestyle choices like high fat and high carb diets, smoking, lack of exercise, metabolism and health problems such as thyroid conditions.
Other contributing factors include aging and hormonal problems such as estrogen level fluctuations, insulin problems, levels of noradrenaline and prolactin.
Genetic factors like ethnicity and your family’s history with cellulite can play a heavy role in cellulite development too.
Even something as simple as wearing tight clothing can increase cellulite development because tight clothing can cut off circulation.
Grades of Cellulite
Cellulite reduction treatments in Mississauga can treat the following grades of cellulite:
Mild cellulite is characterized by an “orange peel” appearance with superficial depressions (usually between one and four) and sagging or draped skin.
Moderate cellulite is five to nine medium-depth depressions that give a “cottage cheese” appearance.
Severe cellulite also described as having a “mattress” appearance with more than 10 deep depressions and draped skin.
Our treatments are centered around radio-frequency devices. They are used to massage the skin’s layers to stimulate collagen production and correct the septae by shrinking fat cells. This releases the skin back to its natural shape and smooths cellulite marks.
How many treatments do I need?
In order to see the best results and the full potential of the treatment, we recommend that you get 8 – 12 treatments.
The treatment is virtually painless and has real results.
Dermatologists recommend RF technology because its effects are long-lasting out of all other methods.
Robert Weiss, an associate professor of dermatology at John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, states that you can expect to see up to a 50% reduction in cellulite when using RF technology. He recommends four to eight 30-minute sessions with two maintenance treatments each year.
